Look up at the Conservation Registry header. Notice anything different? Yes, the beta label is gone! While the Registry has been fully functional since June 2008, the official release of Version 1 marks the completion of features that we’ve been working on since the beginning. Version 1 has many cool refinements, including large screen versions of our famous maps. This feature was made possible by the wonderful people at the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. Other funding angels include the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (hi, guys!), the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, as well as numerous other friends of the Registry who have stepped up to make this resource possible. The Conservation Registry wouldn’t exist without you.

Speaking of angels, the guys at The Other Firm worked night and day to make Version 1 happen. This is in addition to working night and day since 2006 for all other releases of the Registry. Let’s face it, these guys work. Thank you, Ty Montgomery, Ryan Shaw, Matt Lawhead and Brian Howard.

So please explore the new features, including two national map layers: The Nature Conservancy ecoregions and ecoregional assessments. Enjoy the great new look, streamlined data entry screens, and pause to appreciate the new Defenders of Wildlife portal.
